The film accompanies us in the discovery of Dora Maar’s (Paris 1907-1997) photography and painting, exploring the identity and works of an extraordinary woman who is frequently only remembered for having been Picasso’s lover, model and muse. When she finally freed herself from this association, her work was essential and singular, perfectly integrated in the avantgarde of her time, in juxtaposition with the poetics of Man Ray, André Breton and Georges Bataille, thus revealing a fascinating portrait of a complete, versatile woman who managed to affirm her own personal artistic vision, poised between surrealism and social awareness.
