The documentary tells the story of Jean-Michel Basquiat’s adolescence, spanning the years 1978-1981, which he spent in New York City: a view of the movements that inspired him in a violent context and in the midst of an economic crisis, his friendship with Al Diaz with whom he began drawing graffiti on the streets of New York which was signed SAMO, acronym for “Same Old Shit”, using spray paint and indelible ink to propagate obscure, revolutionary and, occasionally, senseless ideas. Everything that was taking place in the city stimulated him: politics, hip-hop, punk rock, racial problems and the world or art.
